300 years of history, Château Bel-Air was born in 1716 on the foothills of the Garonne river.
At the begining of XIXth centruy, in the 1820’s, the wines from the cliffs of Bordeaux were already considered among the best wines in the Bordeaux area.
In 1898, Martin Borderie, wine merchant from Correze region, and great-great-grand-father of Roland Coiffe, acquired Château Bel-Air.
In 1921 was born in Château Bel-Air Jean-Eugène Borie, Roland Coiffe’s grand-father. He devoted his professional life to Bordeaux fine wines by renovating Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou, then Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste.
In 2005, Golwinne and Roland Coiffe took over the estate.
In 2006, after renovations, they settled at Bel-Air with their 4 children
In 2008 was created Roland Coiffe & Associés, which distributes wines all around the world and settled its headquarters at the heart of the estate.
Since the 2010 vintage, the wines are 100% distributed by Roland Coiffe & Associés.
Since the 2013 vintage, and after 1 year of works, the property has got a new winery composed of 10 concrete tanks and 4 stainless steel tanks, all thermoregulated.
Since 2017, the wines are certified organic.
In 2019, Golwinne and Roland planted 2,5 more hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The same year the old barrel cellar is subject to an important modernisation and upgrade.
